its a pretty big tree, will have to do some slaw, too, cant wait to see pix!
I'm pretty selfish with the Maulls.

That is so funny----I thought nomadicus was just joking about "swamp cabbage". I had no clue it was really a food or plant! That's crazy funny!!

its really hearts of palm, from sabal palms. Its actually illegal here to cut one down if its not located on your property. Its delish, Cyn!

Yes! You can get it canned or jarred. Its called hearts of palm. It wont be quite the same as fresh, you cant do it as slaw, but its great in salads, gonna go dig up some recipes, will post them as soon as I find them.

Heart of Palm yes, the fresh stuff is only available at a select few roadside stands. Then the provider has to obtain it legally. Strictly enforced. BTW, they aren't the easiest thing in the world to disect either. May can find a pic or to. You want ever gain weight if you dress your own for sure.
