Boiled franks, Boston baked beans, round brown bread (the kind that comes in a can) and sauerkraut. Lazy night.

I'm hell bent on teaching my spoiled husband and daughters how to cook. I announced they will start mAKing dinner one night a week and I will pick out the menu.
I marinated boneless chicken breast in olive oil, basil, red wine vinegar, onion, garlic, peppercorns overnight. The rest of the menu consisted of plain white rice, steamed broccoli and cheese sauce.
I sat them down telling them how long each dish took and had them figure out which one to start 1st, 2nd, 3rd, last. I had them get all the ingredients out and ready plus pots and pans and other tools.
I was in the kitchen the whole time supervising and they did a great job but found out so much is instinctive and you really can't go by "do this first and then that" For example the rice was sticking to the pan but still crunchy so I had DD add 1/4 cup hot water. She wanted to know how I knew how much to put in. Well I didn't. I just guessed. But "their" supper was tasty and enjoyed by all. Next I'll have them make chicken salad with the extra breast I had them cook tonight.

Love it.

If you want a slightly different change of pace use half ACV and half frozen apple juice from concentrate. If you really want to get fancy add in a teaspoon of red pepper flakes.

This makes a great sandwich.

I made the mistake of asking my 15 yr old boy what he would like to see on the menu this week. So, yesterday I made nachos and today I made fajitas. I believe pizza will be seen on Sunday.

Show him how to make them and then make the request for yourself next week.

Although he is not there yet, a woman appreciates a man that knows his way around the kitchen.

Cool; Heads up, when it comes to rice the secret is to Not take the lid off at any time when cooking. Put the timer on for that one.

Tonight we had pizza and beer at a small local outdoor cafe. Good friends, good conversation, good food, and good music. I love Friday nights.
