I have never had boiled peanuts. I'd like to try them, though. I never met a peanut I didn't like.

Peas! Peas! Peas! Peas! Eating goober peas!

I learned, sang that in school. But, we also sang, "Taffy was a Welshman". Really; we did. Sigh... now I want a shrimp paste sandwich and a Pimm's Cup with fresh borage.

I voted for roasted unsalted. I remember being taken to a Planter's Peanuts shop as a child. The smell of roasting nuts was intoxicating. A very tall walking peanut handed out generous samples.

They're delicious - and easy to do yourself. Raw peanuts in the shell, water, and salt. Here's Alton Brown's take on it.

I am going to try a 1/2 recipe, maybe. Of course, I got distracted by the link at the bottom of that page for Top-of-the-line Margaritas. Now I want boiled peanuts and a Margarita.

I actually do like salted peanuts, but I've discovered that peanuts are most fabulous this way: steamed with greens & mushrooms. Nummers!

I toss them in the crockpot with water and salt and cook them on high for an hour, then let them cook overnight on low - super easy . Also, this method works well if you buy those bags of raw peanuts that aren't fresh crop green.

Great idea! Imma have to try this! Next time I got to the farmers market, I'll see if they have raw peanuts (they did last time I was there).

Interesting combo. Maybe a mint julep and boiled peanuts? I dunno; I got nothin'. I'm going to try the crockpot method Dirt Grinder posted. Boiled Peanuts - Now EVEN EASIER!
