I was thinking of this yesterday when I was carmelizing some onions I was adding to some rice/quinoa/amaranth.
Does anything smell better while you're cooking it than onions and garlic sauteed in butter??
Fill in your favorite cooking smells!!

Baking bread. It is insane. And I am not even a breadaholic.

Under the right circumstances, bacon.

Actually this is a food smell more than a cooking smell, but those barrel pickles....I could just hover over that barrel and smell them all day!

I'm going with the garlic and onions in butter.

Second choice: Jasmine rice

Bacon. Every time I fry it up it leaves the whole house smelling of fresh bacon and spices for 24 hours, mmmm.

A warm pot of plain coffee smells comforting too.
