Doesn't work, apparently. Here's a video demonstrating the real action:

Infomercialism - Robo Stir

This guy has a bunch of videos about cheap products sold on short infomercials. He usually shows the actual product, unless it's really old and no longer available. They're absolutely hysterical, so I'd recommend giving them a watch.

My hubby says, "I need to stop stirring the pot"
So, we won't be purchasing one.

Labs have hot plates that can spin a magnetic bar inside your mixture.

And microwaves have turntables, which is pretty close to stirring.

So, not a crazy idea.

You don't have to use all of the parts, you know. The pot, stirring arm and maybe the lid are the only parts you would need to use to make it work. If you don't need to use the baskets you could just take them off and set them aside before you start cooking.

Who stirs risotto? I sure don't.

Matter of fact, Breville makes a high end electric risotto and rice pot that makes a point about not needing to stir the risotto.

The only things I can think of in which constant stirring are needed to keep from burning are cheese and cream sauces, and chocolate, neither of which I bother with much any more.
