Just curious. And not just on Muffulettas, either. I think they're good on a lot of sandwiches that call for/could use pickles.

I do if I have them available but I don't open a can just for a sandwich. I love them in garden salads, too.

I prefer black olives. Green olives are OK, but lose the pimento.

Lately, I've been putting alfalfa sprouts on sandwiches. Delicious!

Yup, and on pizza too.

Both black and green.

I love olives. However, the only time that I have had them on a sandwich was when I have had Subways' Italian BMT. I just don't keep them in-stock at home to add them to my home-made sandwiches.

I've used an olive spread on sandwiches (doesn't roll off), you can also use a tapenade. Makes a change from mustard/mayonnaise. It's particularly nice if you also use some roasted peppers as part of the sandwich, and good bread of course.

Green olives with cream cheese and tuna, a bit of salsa and minced garlic. Yum.

I put olives AND pickles on some sandwiches, sodium be darned!

Of course, most of my sandwiches have a Dagwood-level of ingredients in them because I've never seen the point of silly things like "showing restraint" and "moderation" for sandwiches.

I don't put pickles on ANYTHING. Pickles are cucumbers soaked in evil.
