Well, the title says it all. Have you ever wondered why chocolate is versatile as a beverage either hot or cold but strawberry only tastes correct as a milk-based beverage when chilled?

I tried to rationalize this in how fruits are not really meant to be 'cooked' but there are chefs who incorporate fruits into stir-fried dishes and they taste alright (not fantastic but passable). So what could be the reason why strawberry milk tastes so utterly off when taken hot?

If your using a powder add-in or factory made liquid product...
That's not real strawberry, it's chemicals that are not meant to be heated.

Try this instead:

1qt. fresh strawberry (hulled)
1/4 cup sugar
2 tblspn. heavy cream
1/2 tspn Pure Vanilla (NO imatation)

OR

1qt frozen strawberry (drained)
1/8cup heavy cream
1/2 tspn pure vanilla
sweeten if needed

Place all ingredients in food processor, puree'.
Pour the puree' into a small sauce pan and bring to a quick "bubbling" on high.
Imediately turn off - remove from heat - strain out "seeds" if desired.

Can be served warm on ice cream, custard and with other desserts.
Mix into any hot beverage and yes even warmed whole milk!

It will probably take you longer to read this post than it will to make this recipe!

Actually, I love Nesquik Strawberry in hot milk - more than I like any hot chocolate. What I don't like is the caloric and sugar content of that stuff.

Even better was the banana flavor. I am so very, very sorry that the discontinued it.
