I use neither. Instead, I use a base made by LeGout. Domestic brands also available.
It's the best of both worlds. You get the convience of cubes and a "natural" taste has you would from canned.

I agree. LeGout is not my favorite brand, though. Generally, I use one of these brands:
Major's Chicken Base
MAJOR, CHICKEN BASE - GLUTEN FREE - Italco Food Products, Inc.
Minor's Chicken Base
Nestlé Professional MINOR'S® Chicken Base 6x1lb
Gordon Food Service
Personally, I prefer to make my stock from scratch and use the base as a supplement, if needed. However, who has the time to make stock all the time?

Sodium free packets. I keep them on hand when I don't make broth myself.

I agree with stock, and in a carton. Broth from a can tastes tinny to me. I occasionally add one of those little concentrated Swanson pouches to whatever I'm making if the chicken or beef flavor seems to be lacking. These aren't the most economical choices, but I can't sacrifice flavor for a tiny bit more $.
At this time of year, broth will be on super duper sale for several weeks. One year I had super double coupons and a sale and got cartons upon cartons of Rachael Ray's chicken broth for 49 cents each. I think I bought 40 or 50 of them. Lasted me a whole year (I make a lot of soup all year round and use a lot of broth in my cooking).

I make my own broth and freeze it in portions, but just in case I do have a package of broth cubes. Some friends of mine keep saying how tasty the broth in a jar is from Costco. Comes in beef and vegetable version.Anybody tried it?

I make stock from meat I roast, but honestly, I don't roast meat often enough to continuously have quantities of homemade stock on hand. If I need broth in a pinch, I do keep Knorr cubes on hand...takes up less valuable cabinet space than cans and cartons.

Neither. I use Better Than Bouillon. It comes in jars and is a bit more expensive than bouillon but worth it. Comes in chicken, beef, mushroom, vegetable, ham, lobster, and clam concentrates. Love it!

Yes, this is what I prefer. The beef base is very good. I don't like the chicken as much, and will often use carton broth/stock over it. Never boullion cubes.

Pressure cooker FTW! Homemade stock in an hour.
