The world has too many pizza snobs.

$20 with delivery isnt expensive. Order online and use coupons to save. Be flexible in your order to work with the coupons. If you dont like the total when you order it, dont buy it. On the otherhand, you each had a meal and mif there were leftovers, maybe 3 meals for $20, not bad. Bottom line isnt the price, its that you were starving, didnt want to cook, wanted pizza and they met your needs. no reason to sweat a few bucks extra.

If it is from a chain like Pizza Hut, $10.00 is a fair price for a large. However, at the little Mom and Pop specialty restaurants, I do not mind paying $20.00+ for a large.

First mistake is buying from a chain. granted Pizza Hut and Sbarros is what I prefer chain wise. Popa Johns is just crap. No real flavor, too much sauce, I should know, I live in the home of PJ's. I usually stick with local places and chains. speaking of which, if you live in either Los Angles or San Fran I forget which, our local chain Spinellis, opened a store not too long ago somewhere. They have one size, an 18inch and it is $18, at least here it is, I know in Cali they think things should cost more than it's supposed to.

Around here a good mom and pop pizza place that serves pizza with real cheese and real sausage will run you $27-$28 or so. But you are not hungry an hour later, thus the difference.
The chain pizza places, I would not pay more than $13-$15 for a pizza since they use sub-par ingredients and their crust is puffed with air. The chains all run specials, esp. if you are in their text-coupon list or email club or something.

!!!!!

Where are you?

I can get a 14" D.O.C. Neapolitana with imported bufala mozzarella, #00 flour and San Marzanos for under $18.

$27-$28 seems quite high, unless you're talking like 22" or something huge.

Puffed with air? Are you suggesting they do that on purpose, because I am pretty sure they don't.

If I make my own pizza at home and am using a flour high in gluten, it is just one of those things that happen. Some of the bubbles you can pop in the rolled dough before the toppings get put on, but sometimes they just naturally occur in the process of baking the crust. I like the bubbles, but that is just me.

Yes, it was "large", which had 8 average size pieces. The delivery fee is $2.50, which is more than fair, but the $16. for the 2 topping pizza was too darn much.

We ordered a two topping pizza from Domino's...delivered. It was very good, and very hot, but it was over $20, including tip. DH and I thought this was outrageous.
Are we right, or wrong?
Yeah that's really high and it's corporate pizza not real pizza. I would just stop at Little Caesars and get a $5 pepperoni one.

YES! It was a great pizza. It just shouldn't have cost so much.
