Has anyone ever eaten a wild turkey? I've seen them in various places in the wild and they sure look rather slender compared to our domesticated turkeys.

Mostly dark meat from all that exercise I would think? Love to try one someday--must be what the pilgrims ate....

i have a few times..

we have many wild ones up here... once, while drive through some fields and rock walls, i felt and heard a thump, on the back end of the car,,it startled me,,so i turned around, and beside the rode was a turkey that flew into the car.... he was dead
so, i paid homage to the turkey god, and cut the breast out of him...took it home, soaked it in a brine overnight and cooked it the next day,,it was very good,,a little stringy-tougher than usual,,but i expected that
ive had some drumsticks a friend gave me from a wild turkey that was very tough... but thats understandable!!

Picked up the small honeybaked ham this afternoon, started on my sides tonight. Already have a list of leftover ham recipes to try. Maybe I'll try a small turkey break for Christmas as I know of one other guest we will have. It's been interesting to see how others feel the same way about turkey. Oh how I wish I had access to fresh lobster. That sounds delish.

I love the whole roast a turkey with all the fixing. Only do it once a year personally .Two years ago I bought anther roast just for that purpose each year since one from the 50's burnt out I got from parents. its tradition I guess that makes family and turkey with trimming so special.

We're actually having turkey and beef this year. I think I'll stick with turkey, but I'd be glad to use that beef in some leftover dishes.
