I haven't had guests that weren't coming over for a holiday meal in years. I just don't care to entertain in my home anymore. When I did it was always some sort of pasta though.

That is a great idea. Kind of a variation on the theme of build your own tacos or pizza. I’d be SOL to find good deli food here, but if I could, I would love it.

I guess we’ll never know if OP ever had the dinner, what was served, or if the pitch worked.

Who me? Two topics were merged but maybe you meant angrymillionaire who wrote the original post in 2013. My topic starts with post #54.

I sure hope angrymillionaire had that dinner by now! As for me, I've used several of the meal ideas already and can't wait to make more. Sadly no one over for dinner yet but I'm thinking of an outdoor get together with neighbors at some point. Not sure how they feel about it but we'll see!

There was no cooking involved for her and we all sat around for hours enjoying the food and each other's company. Family and friends could drop in at any time since there was nothing formal about it like a specific meal time. I miss those days.

This is a wonderful idea!!!

We have several local delicious Italian delis that I could certainly use to do this....

Thank you!!! Now go away covid....
