I have a half eaten jar in the fridge now. Yum!! One of my faves! Word to the wise, however... Don't eat pickled herring over your ipod. If you drip it on the wheel, it sticks really bad and never quite works right again. Don't ask me how I know that...

It definitely was an acquired taste, but I can say I do like it now.

They also go great with soup. My herring nirvana was at a hotel in Helsinki where the breakfast spread included eight kinds of herring.

With a blizzard starting here, and all this talk about herring . . . I think it's time to sit by the fire with a plate of crackers and herring. See ya!
