I was just wondering if it's me, or does this happen to others?

Say you put a cake in the oven, set the timer, then go about your business doing something else.

Even though I've been thoroughly engrossed in something else, I always know within seconds that the timer is about to go off. EVERY time.
This seems pretty freaky...like when the dog always knows when the school bus is coming.

The dog probably hears the school bus.

I can say to myself. "Self, I want to take 15 minute nap." And I'll wake exactly 15 minutes later. Been doing that all my life.

I wake up around 6am every morning and don't need an alarm clock.

(What's even more annoying is that it happens on the weekends as well).

How's that for a freakish inner timer.

I don't know about the timer but my nose knows when I can "smell" something as if it's "done" --- it means within seconds if not immediately - I'd better check it or get it OUT cuz it's going to burn.

I'm a terrible cook.

I get so engrossed in what I'm doing (reading, internet, TV) I basically disconnect from the world. Hence, I usually find out somethings gone terribly wrong by Sarakate's method.

But, I can wake up at the correct time without an alarm clock.

Both I and my old kitty still wake up within a couple of minutes of 5:00AM every morning, even though I retired several years ago. I never needed an alarm clock. He will come up next to my face, expecting that we will go get breakfast but he's not hard to convince to go back to sleep And yes, there is a very subtle aroma I detect that comes right when something is done.

But the thing with me is, I don't think in involves the smell of something being done. I mean I can be at the other end of the house where I can't smell it, and my internal timer goes off.

gentlearts...that happens to me a lot too. In fact it just happened tonight....oddly enough though, if I don't set the timer, I will forget but if I do set the timer, I will remember and get there within 1 minute of the time going off.....I also only set the alarm if I have a morning plane to catch (but even then I wake up on time. I wake up at about 4:30 every morning (I don't GET up but I do WAKE up!)....My dog knows she eats dinner at 5 and will start staring at me at 4ish every day.

Default Yes, all the time with the microwave

It happens to me ALL the time with microwave ovens. It does not matter what I put in the microwave or for how long. I can be somewhere else in the house or at work and one second before the timer will beep I get up from what I am doing to head to the microwave. It beeps right after I stand up. It's been this way for me as long as I can remember.
Too bad it's a worthless talent that won't win me Lotto.
