It's an evening get together at our house. Tamales, chili, cheese and party dips and chips etc.

I had my second Christmas meal today. Same menu as I had but with the addition of carrot casserole, liver casserole and some liver sauce. I did not taste the liver dishes though, urgh.

It starts off with waffles, bacon, maple syrup, and champagne for breakfast, the mid afternoon foodfest is the ubiquitous turkey, assortment of roast vegetables, roast potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, minted peas,Brussel sprouts with bacon bits, cranberry sauce and gravy and of course stuffing, along with a plethora of potables.Probably do Dessert after a nap, Baileys Irish cream cheese cake with vanilla ice cream.

it's because "festive eating habits in the past have often been dictated by religion. When Christmas was banned in Scotland after the Reformation, Presbyterian ministers visited their flock to check they had no festive foods in the house. Christmas wasn't a public holiday in Scotland until 1958, so there's no long-established history of festive eating on Christmas Eve in either my parents' or grandparents' memories. In England, the Puritans also banned the celebration of Christ's Mass. But, unlike Scotland, Christmas traditions revived after the monarchy was restored."

Last night, my aunt made homemade naan bread with paneer butter masala and dum aloo for dinner. That was my christmas eve feast. It was fantastic and the naan was so tasty. I stuffed myself yesterday night and could not care less about dieting.

I had some delicious chicken tamales, rice, tasty frijoles, and a nice macaroni/chicken salad. Tamales for Christmas Eve are a Mexican tradition.
