I haven't been to KFC in a very long time; the one in my town is downright terrible. The food was always cold and dried out, they were often out of items, and the dining area was always sticky and littered with crumbs and trash from previous customers. If it's that nasty where the customers can see, I wonder what it's like in the kitchen?

One of our local grocery stores has a self-serve buffet where you can buy chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, gravy, and all the rest and pay by the pound.

It wasn't good. The chicken was wet with grease. And they were out of cole slaw. I went with the green beans and mashed 'taters and gravy. The sides were good.

I'll give them another try in a few more months. Maybe.

Yep. I use to be able to buy 4 lbs of 26 count shrimp ;quart of oysters and pound of blue crab claw meat for a gumbo for 22 dollars too; now about 50 bucks.

They just opened a location near me and are doing some sort of "special" on Sundays for the buffet for like $3.50 or something. They almost needed a cop to direct the traffic it got so crowded.

Why would I cook my own fried chicken when it is cheaper and better from Publix?

What a waste of my time. We eat it tailgating and at the beach.

Whenever I go to San Antonio I look forward to Church's fried chicken.
We have KFC, Popeye's and Bojangles up here but I'm not a fan of much but broiled at KFC, the fried stuff is too greasy. Bojangle's and Popeye's crust is too hard and you get weird pieces like just a backbone at Popeye's. Their red beans and rice is good but is a heart attack in the making. I like the Indian rotisserie chicken place down the road...you get half a chicken and two home made sides for $8.

Macaroni soggy, peas all moist and the chicken taste like wood.

KFC's do seem to vary in quality a lot by location. We have several close by and one specific location is by far better than the others. The staff are more polite, the place is cleaner and all items are in stock.

We tried the one out by the Mall another time and the Chicken pie we had seen advertized over and over wasn't even available. That time we settled for the chicken sandwich which was cold and extremely dry.. I am done with KFC.
