A trip to Chinatown in L.A. always does it, come back and out comes the Wok and my Chinese cookbooks!
What I'll be eating the next week from my big weekly cookout:
Pork w/ Asparagus/Black Bean Sauce, Beef w/Broccoli, Peppery Pork with Chinese Cabbage, Egg Foo Yung and decided to make Sweet & Sour Pork (my favorite Chinese dish). I followed the directions to a T, the batter frying, the sauce and all, but I was disappointed in the sauce (too much vinegar) and wasn't crazy about the batter. I tend to avoid Chinese dishes (or Tempura) involving deep-fat frying, (always a greasy mess!) and I won't make another attempt at Sweet & Sour Pork. And, it was a lot of work!
I was going to have hot dogs and potato salad, but it looks life, because we have no eggs, I will grill a couple of chicken breasts, make a salad and grill some brussle sprouts. The hot dogs will wait until tomorrow.
Last night = Taco Soup with cheese and sour cream on top, crackers and Angel Food Cake
Tonight = Hotel steak, twice baked potatoes and leftover Angel Food Cake
