Well the contractor just pulled into the driveway to start the kitchen, so it looks like a pizza night for us. They will be working on the house off and on for about 3 weeks. God, how I hated to write that check this morning!!!
SO is travelling and a friend will come over to bake bread, drink wine and spend the night. His SO is travelling:>) A ham is about to go into the smoker. So it will be salad, ham, fresh bread. The rest of the piggy will get chopped up, portioned and frozen for breakfast burritos and pasta w/cream/ham/mushrooms.
BTW - grape tomatoes sautéed briefly with a dash of sugar and balsamico make a tasty addition to salads.
Been a bit under the weather & haven't had much of an appetite lately. Will be making my third pot of chicken noodle soup today, since it's all I've had a taste for. DH has been having some of the chicken (from the soup) with rice or with noodles in a casserole. He's pretty much been on his own & doing fine.
We had a 50 degrees drop today in weather so SOUP time. Made a basil and winter tomato soup for lunch. Tonight will be country ham (juju!) and split pea soup with homemade crusty bread.
All of yesterday's potato salad talk got me in the mood, so I'm making Chinese potato salad which I'll have with a lovely rainbow trout and the malosol pickles I made on Sunday.
