I just finished cleaning a stove that had an entire pizza dumped off the pan and all over the bottom of the oven. Yuck times two.

It's not a self cleaning oven, not that a self cleaning oven could have been used for that job without setting the house on fire.

I have a vague memory that the bottom of the oven should not be lined with foil. If my memory is wrong, I'd like to put a sheet of foil down on the bottom of that oven while it is still freshly cleaned.

Foil to line the oven, OK or not OK?

My range came with a sticker on it warning against lining the bottom of the oven with foil. But it is self cleaning, and convection as well.

I have foil on mine, but I think my manual told me not to due to reflective heat and the burners failing...or something like that.

My oven is not self cleaning and Reynolds makes foil oven liners that I use for my oven. Talk about a life saver! I buy them at Publix but they can be found where foil trays are.

It is bad enough cleaning the oven once a month with easy off on the sides and the top, but without the liner it would be a heck of lot worse.

Btw I have a frigidaire electric range.

Other then the slow cooker liners this is one product that I am so glad exists!

No, melting, fire and damage can result.

Line the bottom shelf with foil but leave a few inches open on sides. Dont put shelf lowest position but the one just above that.

Then cook as normal on top shelf.

Gas oven--NO!

Electric oven--yes, on the floor of the oven, not on top of the heating element.

I put foil on mine, but I put it shiny-side down.

No, use a large pan on a shelf under your pizza ...etc. Buy a pizza stone is another option.

I use Betty Crocker Oven Liners. They can be had many places: BB & B, Target, Walmart, Kitchen Collection, anywhere from $8.99 to 12.99. They clean up well and last forever.

Chef's Planet makes another kind.
Check them out. Luck.
