Today...ANOTHER organic food recall.

Listeria sparks recall of vegetables frozen in Pasco, sold at Costco | The Seattle Times

If you click on the recall. You will notice that it is ALL organic food products.

Organic food products are the most dangerous food products that we eat. Is it time to we at least give consumers the option of eating organic and other foods protected by Irridation??

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_irradiation

I would buy irridiated meats, fish, as well as vegetables. I would be great to have this option for consumers that are concerned about their health.

Please, no OH MY GOD comments....serious comment would you buy irridated hamburger and not worry about food safety anymore.

Hyperbole. Smart shopping and local sourcing can go a long way in making sure foods are safe.

No I think we need to consider that they're were slacking on protocol at the factory. It seems like mass production and shipping is a huge factor in this. It's probably safer to buy local.

What is smart shopping?? How do you select lettuce, frozen vegetables, etc. to avoid tainted food?? These foods were distributed by Costco.

I assume by local sourcing you mean buy local?? Pasco is local for me.

I do have concern about the workforce on our farms. Basically, lots of people with no knowledge of basic sanitation. I assume that the farmers and regulatory bodies have LOTS of interest in stopping these outbreaks.

After all, these recalls cost the farmers lots of money. Yet, the outbreaks continue and the number appears to be increasing.

That is the basis of my comment on irridiation. Brazil uses it extensively to protect the quality of their food.

It's irradiation, and those who choose to purchase organic foods don't support the process.

Meats have been irradiated for years, George Bush signed that in while he was in office.

True, but I know a lot of people that don't like wearing seat belts!!

We ,as a society, add all sorts of stuff to food and drinking water to protect consumers.

I appreciate the views of those that purchase organic foods, maybe have a different label, on food that is "not safe".

Irradiating food does not make it radioactive.
