I stopped drinking coffee around December because of bad taste. I grind my own beans and only drink Colombian, have tried different brands, DD and others, all taste bad. I thought it was me. I also cleaned the machine very well, as I do on a regular basis.

Just this weekend I bought Gavalia coffee, Colombia, and it was surprisingly really good. I didn't have high hopes because its cheaper but I had a coupon so I gave it a shot. I say it is worth a try, I will buy it again. Didn't seem "burnt" at all, really tasty. Gevalia In Store | Buy Gourmet Coffee

Everyone has different taste buds and coffee strength and flavor preferences. What's more important is how you're brewing your coffee. The best coffee in the world can taste like dirt if you don't brew it at the right temp and time.

I use a french press and brind my beans slightly more fine. I want the most of the roast's flavor extracted.

I don't know about their beans (perhaps they are fine), but I am mystified as to why anyone would buy a drip coffee from DD.

DD is for people who don't like coffee in their coffee as far as I can make out.

My brother is a Grade A coffee snob and roasts his own beans - I understand it's quite a complicated process to get it just right. According to him anyhow.

I buy either Peets coffee or Seattle's Best and can't say I've noticed any off-taste or bitterness.

Talking about getting just a cup of burnt tasting coffee - I got a cuppa at Hardee's and it tasted so burnt, I gagged. Nasty stuff.
