This is specifically for the small grape or cherry tomatoes. Doing those one at a time is a pain.
Never had any trouble cutting those either. Usually I just pop them in my mouth but if I'm making a big salad to serve several people I'll halve them. If I want to chop them well - I'd never use cherry or grape tomatoes for chopping - that's what the big ones are for - and then I'd use that Popiel Chopper I've had for a skadillion years that will chop half a tomato, then the other half, then half a red onion, then the other half, then a bunch of pickled jalapeno peppers - a good-sized bunch of cilantro..

And now, I am wanting pico de gallo!
The video actually does not show the person chopping cherry tomatoes, but slicing them in half. This would have been clear had you watched the <1 minute video. I prefer them halved in my salads, though I am usually too lazy to do them one by one. For chopping, yes, you do use larger breed tomatoes.
I saw the vid this morning and used this trick when I was packing my salad for lunch. It's easy, you just have to make sure that the knife you pick is long enough to extend beyond the opposite side of the plate even with the push-pull action. Very quick, and just throw the plate in the d/w for cleanup.

I no longer link to any links provided by the OP - often they are to websites of dubious security. Plus, he has been known to post "news" and link to The Onion - which, anyone who actually pays attention to the things they're linking people to, knows is a parody website.
The topic itself was of interest. I don't need to watch a video to know that I've never had any trouble slicing, chopping, or even peeling tomatoes, and that I don't understand why anyone else would - unless they're using dull knives.
Cutting tomatoes can be a frustrating experience – it’s not always easy and tomato juice can squirt out everywhere. But thanks to this video, now you can cut them perfectly each and every time! This method safer and a lot cleaner too!
Even if you've never had trouble slicing/dicing/chopping tomatoes, the video shows a creative, clever way to slice. I probably wouldn't use it because I'd resent dirtying two plates for a handful of tomatoes, nevertheless, hats off to the person who thought of it.
That's a great idea. I'll definitely use it since I like to put cherry tomatoes in salads.
