It is definitely not one of my favorites, but I am going to try it with feta. My problem with watermelon is the juice dripping all over everything and getting my hands sticky, even though I think that is probably the one thing that people love about eating watermelon.
I learned to eat watermelon from my father ... who cut a slice of the watermelon, so you had the whole round piece ... put it on a dinner plate, and ate with a spoon. Just dip the spoon into the melon, and twirl it around, creating a round little bite.
I never like Watermelon. Don't like Watermelon flavored candy, the actual fruit, nothing. Family gatherings as a kid, it seemed like every time, they had one there and I would have 10 different people telling me I should like it. I just don't.
To me it's just yucky, it just feels wrong in my mouth there isn't any solidness to it say like a peach or an orange.
My family whom are black, and my one one maternal uncle (my late mothers dad's side) told me I'm not black enough because I don't eat it?!
Not all black folks like watermelon.
WTF!
My dad's cousin also hates it, he says it tastes funny to him, my dad however loves it so much he will eat half of one in one sitting, and he will actually hunt for them when they are in season.
Makes no sense to me I tell you, my favorite fruits are peaches and oranges can't get enough of those.
A bad watermelon has no flavor, but a good watermelon has a lovely, refreshing, sweet flavor. I don't like a bad watermelon either - only a good one.
Well, over the years with all the family gatherings at which people happily slurped away at their beloved watermelon, there must have been some good watermelons. But I still never met a watermelon that I liked.
I think I may try it again this summer and really really try to like it, to see if there is actually a flavor to it.
I cannot eat watermelon. The flavor is okay and I even like watermelon flavored gum, but what I can't stand is the texture. The wet sort of slushy-crunchiness, I can't do it. If watermelons had the consistency of an apple or an orange or something I'd probably like them.
I'm not a picky eater at all, there are very few foods I don't like. Watermelon is at the top of that list, I don't like the taste, smell, or texture. Never have.
