Though I prefer whipped cream, CoolWhip does very well for certain recipes.

speaking of fake foods, what is the deal with miracle whip? it tastes very strange. is it mayo or salad dressing or something else? what's in it that makes it taste that way?

I think I'll pass, thanks all the same ! I even make my own mayonnaise if I can at all as it is a completely different taste than even the best of Deli bought can provide.

I hate cooking but I will make the effort if it tastes good ! The Tummy must have what The tummy wants... Being good to my tastebuds is being good to myself.

Fat Freddy what earthly delights you are denying yourself if you think like that , trust me it may come out all the same in the end but the journey will be far , far more enjoyable with a gastronomic treat !

I made chocolate truffles on Valentine's Day for my co-workers once. A couple of them harrumphed and said, "Too rich."

"Casting pearls before swine" was my first thought.

I no longer "bother." I save the time-consuming and/or expensive recipes for my family or friends only when I am sure my efforts will be appreciated.

If I have my friends over for a brunch, that is when I will go the extra mile. Covered dish get togethers, pot luck, etc . . . I have found what goes over best are hearty, less labor intensive recipes . . . so I long ago (about 15 years ago) quit bothering!!!!

And as far as cool whip (wh/ seems to be a staple w/ most of my extended family, neighbors, friends - heck, my elderly mother buys it in bulk and keeps it in her freezer!!!!!) I gag thinking about it. I buy the real stuff in the squirty containers if I am in a hurry. :-)

Cooking is a labor of love. Unfortunately, dong it right and then having no one appreciate it . . . that is just wasted effort, and yes . . . you have just thrown pearls b/f swine . . . so save the oyster stuffing for a group that will appreciate it. At least, that is what I do.

Bon Appetite!

Yep raw eggs , I use really fresh ones ( buy them locally from someone who raises chickens or only free-range).

I have never been sick once in 40 years but I understand some people might be wary. But then again one of my favourite thing is Steak Tartare !
