You buy something and the seal is broken (wine, cookies, meal)

Set it aside for the next trip to the store and return it. There are too many crazies out there that may have tampered with it. I wouldn't take the chance.
About a month ago I bought a jar of olives stuffed with Feta; the vacuum seal was broken. I returned it. I'm not very worried about sabotage, just contamination.
Most of the time, I would take it back or just throw it out, if it's an inexpensive item and I don't want to be bothered going back. Sometimes though, I KNOW that the seal broke after purchase, while the item was being bagged, carried, and unbagged. Happens most often with yogurts that have the peel-back foil tops, or easy to open packs of cookies if my son is helping to bag. In that case, said son eats the item right away.
You only find out about it when you get it home and are about to use it. What do you usually do?
Happened today to me with a plastic bottle of malt vinegar. I still used it, but don't always.
Suppose it depends what it is. I would never give my nephew infant anything that had a broken seal. What do you usually do?
Vinegar I would probably use, most things I would return or if not return I would just toss, depending on the cost. I had a similar thing happen to me last week: but it was costly. I got hubby some of his cheap boxed wine; long story, but it turned out there was a small hole in the plastic container and the wine was no good. I did take it back, according to customer service at WalMart there is a federal law against taking alcohol back without a receipt and I had tossed mine. I was stuck with wasting almost $20.00. Oh, I didn't mention the box leaked and the next morning I had a heck of a mess in the kitchen.

Myself as well. Either back to the store or the trash. Not worth the chance. I would not be able to enjoy the meal anyway with this in my head.
