LOL....I second that motion. And don't forget a personal dishwasher....although if I had to make a choice, I'd do the cleaning up every day if someone would just cook for me!
Totally tiled kitchen. One of those vents that goes to the outside. My favorite things to cook involve a lot of sauteeing of garlic, onions and spices. It is messy and stinks.
A new stove that doesn't try to murder me at every opportunity. Our stove has a problem with one of the burners and it sends up giant balls of flame on a random basis. I've learned to stand *well* back while lighting any of the burners. The stove is also on a slant, so all the oil collects at the back of the skillet...so half the food is soaked and the other half burns to a crisp.
I'd also love a cast iron skillet...oven safe crocks...a food processor...a blender...a decent slow cooker that doesn't try to catch the house on fire...a rice maker...
Hello ParellelJJCat- We've missed seeing you. Hope all is well.
I have often wondered if a rice maker would be worth the space. I've tried all sorts of rice and different ratios of rice to liquid but I still get rice stuck to my pan. Drives me crazy.
A cook top smoker
Not much of a baker so the only use for the Kitchen aide stand mixer would be for pasta, so maker just a pasta maker would be what I would opt for.
A full set of global knives
A vent that goes outside
But what I would want that is extravagant are ingredients.
Benton bacon (30.00 bucks a package)
Miso directly from Japan ( the real stuff is a world different then anything in the US)
Ras al Hanout from William Sonoma ( 10.00 buck for a little jar)
Mexican vanilla
I have a birthday coming up and as usual DH is leaving it up to me to get my own gift. That's fine with me. I've been keeping house 38+ years and have just about everything I want or need but this morning I placed an order with Chefs website.
1)I got a ricer for making smoother mashed potatoes. I've lived this long without it but seems like it will come in handy for fruit sauces, etc. it has 3 different blades
2)I also got some crocks for French onion soup
3)Another set of soup bowls- we eat a lot of soup in the winter
4)some fresh new white waffle kitchen towels
5) set of three colanders
the total was $149 with tax and free shipping
I don't have any cast iron items but at this point not sure I could even pick them up. Same for those fancy super expensive cookers baked in enamel.
So what would you order if you had carte blanch gift money?
Probably a brick oven to make pizza and an industrialized ice crusher to make slushies.
Hahaha...sounds like fun...I'd like this, too!
Basically, I'd like the perfectly designed kitchen as far as function as well as esthetics. I think the "mood" and convenience of your surroundings can be compelling to both keep one in the kitchen, as well as motivate one to increase one's culinary expertise and sense of adventure.
Sooooo, with this in mind...I'd like a kitchen filled with space to accommodate myself and some "assistant chefs" (hubby and kids!). Of course, it would have the latest/greatest gas professional cooktop with 6 burners, double oven, and warming drawers.
Utensils, and cookware should be within one's reach without having to dig through the endless bottomless-pits of drawers and cabinets.
2 large sinks to accommodate washing both cookware and a different one for veggies.
Other posters have explained this better than me, so I'll defer to their wonderful ideas.
However, I'll add one more thing- I seem to be inspired by the old European décor of using stone around the kitchen - both as form as well as "function". So, either slate or limestone accents would be nice.
Ultimately, I'd LOVE a stone pizza and bread oven as well! Good to light up on cold, stormy nights, as well as use for pizza, bruschetta, bread, and a variety of other foods.
Mangia!!!!!! (oh, and DON'T forget the red Italian wine!!!!!)
