The Food Allergen Label and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 requires the top 8 "major food" allergens be listed on food packaging labels, even if it's obvious. These are milk, eggs, fish, treenuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and shellfish.
My son is deathly allergic to 3 of those- treenuts, fish and shellfish.
We bought a new brand of yogurt and THANK GOD my 14 year old read the label as it contained Tilapia. My wife and I wouldn't have thought in a million years fish product would be used in yogurt. Thankfully my son is very cautious and takes great care with what he ingests.
We would have felt horrible had he needed to be rushed to the ER because we failed to read a yogurt label.

I don't eat yogurt often, but I have a seafood allergy. Never in a million years would it occur to me that there could be fish products in yogurt! Next time I buy yogurt, I'll be sure to read the labels carefully.
I also once saw peanut butter that had omega-3 fish oil.
I love how if you get a bag of peanuts, it'll say on the package CONTAINS PEANUTS OR OTHER NUTS
Similar to how sleep-aids will say on them 'Caution: may cause drowsiness'. Gotta love stupid lawsuits that make these necessary.

You are right. I shouldn't have made it sound as though Dannon was the only one.
Eating insects is not something unheard of but I just thought it was interesting how much we are fooled by what is in the food we eat. I always thought the red came from the strawberries. Who knew ?????
