And it seems to be most of the individual fruits at least where I shop. There is such a thing as a Sign or Tag for the bin, which could tell us just fine what the product is.
But then how will they know at the register what it is? At my grocery store, there are probably 8+ different varieties of apples that range from $1.79 to $3.99 per lb. They can't trust the customer to tell them what kind they are, because I'm sure they'd have a lot of customers buying the $3.99 variety and telling them it's the $1.79 variety.
Can you identify the two varieties below? Because there's a $2/lb difference between them:
A 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water does the trick as well.
Vinegar is effective for cleaning produce but less so for removing stickers and residue.. I use vinegar/water for small items in bunches - cherry tomatoes, celery, strawberries, grapes, etc - and Fit for large ones with stickers affixed.
I've met people who don't know the difference between an apple and a pear. I try to use self checkout whenever possible because the cashiers often times have no idea what the produce is and have to ask about everything.
That's what annoys me... The workers rarely know anything about the food. I often wonder to myself what do these people eat??

Learn to wash your fruit and look at it before you take a bite. Geez.
I think that's the real problem here. NO way can this person carefully wash their fruit and not see the label.

The problem isn't macro, that would be naive. It's on a microscopic level.
The stuff at the farmers market already had the retail labeling removed for your convenience.
Not my farmers market. The fruit doesn't grow with the stickers on them. They are put on by machines after they are harvested and being packaged for stores. Farmers markets are supposed to be filled with local farmers selling the fruits of their labor not the fruits of labor from a tomato farm in Mexico or orange grove in California.

Well, if it's my sister who is waiting on you, then she eats Lean Cuisine meals every day. Healthy I know! Oh and she doesn't work as a cashier, but the dingbats who don't know what a cucumber is make me think of her.
