Gluten isn't poison. Some people are intolerant or outright allergic to it. They shouldn't eat it.

That is it.

It also doesn't cause ADD or ADHD......but I doubt you really care about the issue and not just your pet nutritional peeve.

Go back and read the OP.

I think the drop in consumption of cereals is that many people have come to realize there are better options for breakfast than a bowl full of carb rich nutrient poor food product doused in sugar and accompanied with cows milk.
My breakfasts usually consist of salad and a fruit accompanied with a freshly made juice.

When buying cereal one has to be smart not only about the price but also about the ingredients. I try to buy cereals that are high fiber and less sugar (rather than the real "sweet"/children's brands).

While the price of cereals is high, I cannot remember paying more than $2 for a box of cereal as it is generally on sale every week somewhere.

Cereal sales at the some of the nation's largest food manufacturers have gone stale lately as consumers' appetites shift toward healthier breakfast options.

In its quarterly earnings presentation Wednesday, General Mills (GIS) reported that sales for its U.S. cereal business, which is made up of such brands as Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Wheaties, dropped 9% from a year ago.

Good. Maybe they'll stop using GMO laden ingredients.

People are finally waking up, realizing that the typical cold breakfast cereal is full of pesticides, growth hormones, GMO grains, artificial preservatives/colors/flavors, refined sugars, even inorganic arsenic... not to mention the chemicals in the packaging, and packaging waste.

Our food dollars speak LOUDLY. More and more people are putting their food dollars towards better healthier options. Healthier for human bodies, and the planet, too.

It's not quantity that matters - it's quality.
