Who can afford a box of Cereal for at least 5.00 or more and also get less size for your money.

Cereal sales at the some of the nation's largest food manufacturers have gone stale lately as consumers' appetites shift toward healthier breakfast options.

In its quarterly earnings presentation Wednesday, General Mills (GIS) reported that sales for its U.S. cereal business, which is made up of such brands as Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Wheaties, dropped 9% from a year ago.

Americans aren't eating Wheaties...or other cereals. - Sep. 18, 2014

I have always thought that boxed cereal is too expensive for what it is.

General Mills is closing a local plant putting 400+ people out of work. The plant makes cereal.

There aren't as many boobs buying overpriced namebrand cereals. Generic is much cheaper and unless you're buying one of those really specific kids cereals you don't need it. I think people are generally moving away from name brands when the generic equivalent is as good, the kind of food brand name as a status symbol culture where people mock you for buying generic products is coming to an end.

Most cereals just have too much sugar in them, even something like Cheerios.

Cheerios, at least regular ones, claim sugar free.

I've found Safeway corn flakes comparable to Kellogg's. I also like Post Raisin Bran better than the Kellogg's iteration.

Having said that, my adult children still eat Lucky Charms.

Trader Joe's has a ton of options for $1.99 and it is much better than the big brands. That is where we buy cereal if we need to. I tend to eat free range eggs and bacon, but to each their own.
