I've been wrapping it in foil but yesterday found the hot dog bun wrapper is big enough for my 2 lb loaf. Does it make any difference? Should I refrigerate it?

It will probably keep several days at room temperature. If you want to keep it longer, freezing is probably the best option because the fridge will dry it out.
Yeah, no fridge. If you have a breadbox, that is obviously a great way to do it. If not, keep in a paper bag, wrap in parchment paper, or throw in a plastic shopping bag and loosely fold the top closed so it can breathe a bit..

Other than slicing and freezing it, you can turn it into breadcrumbs or those little slices of dried bread or toasted stale bread, used in some appetizers, such as Italian with olive oil, or bruschetta, or some fancy French things like canapes.
I don't have a bread box, but I find that a cake stand with a dome works just as well. For sandwich bread, storing it in a plastic bag will soften the crust, which many children prefer.
I use a small piece of aluminum foil at the end that is cut for the first 2 days. Sometimes I just stand it up on a plate with the cut side down. Then it is used for toast. A lot of people keep it in a brown paper bag for a few days before it ends up in the freezer.
funny I have always put my bakery bread and my homemade bread in the fridge and it has always kept well and no mold if not refrigerated it will mold .
You might be used to it if you always did it that way. Bread doesn't mold in the freezer either.
