I plan on starting cooking on Tuesday.
Are you feeding the entire Army or just the kids at West Point. That is quite a meal.
As for starting, I am going to make my sweet potato casserole tomorrow I think. I don't know what else I will make early. I have appointments at the hospital Monday, tests on Tues afternoon and a dumb chemical stress test on Wednesday morning, getting ready for my knee replacement on Dec. 2nd. so my time isn't much.
I think I already posted what I'm having, which is super traditional, but I am trying two new pie recipes this year
A pumpkin pie from 1960s Fannie Farmer using heavy cream and a few different spices from the usual Libby's can recipe.
A Tennessee Whiskey Pecan pie from this month's Southern Living magazine.

The in laws are big people. My husband is one of five boys, ranging from 6'2" to 6'6". All the wives and adult nieces and nephews are tall too. I get lost at barely five feet amongst them. Then of course there are three pesky vegetarians that I have to cook separate for.
I had two add ons today, so 22 adults and four little ones. I am pulling my hair out making sure I have enough table space, chairs, silverware and China.
I can't complain. It is a lot of fun to cook such a big meal once a year.
Good luck at on all your medical tests and wishing you quick recovery from your knee replacement.
Cranberry jelly - and must be pushed out of the can whole!
Dessert - homemade wild blueberry pie (I picked the berries myself and froze them). Second pie... I'm not sure. May be French Silk.
We always serve champagne with our holiday dinners.
Funny someone mentioned lobster. Back in 1620 they were so plentiful in New England the Indians considered them trash and didn't eat them. Neither did the Pilgrims.
