Well, the higher prices of feed, labor, and fuel are catching up to us this year at Thanksgiving time.

What is the Lowest price per lb. you can find for an off-brand/store brand frozen turkey in your area for Thanksgiving 2014 ??

I'll start: Phoenix $.79 per lb.

most stores are paying well over 1.00lb for frozen turkeys

I was a meat manager in a high volume supermarket years ago, I lost 24000 on selling turkeys below cost, yes a net loss from my department.
yeah they hope shoppers will buy more once in the store,,

but most of the thanksgiving meal fixins are on sale too at low margins

Looks like $.59/lb for Safeway bird, $.88/lb at Safeway for Butterball. DH is lobbying for a turkey. I suspect I'll give in and roast him a bird.

Quite a range in the price per pound so far! And many places around town require a minimum purchase of $25 besides the turkey. I can't blame them!
