I always make a 2 crust apple pie for Thanksgiving. This year I did a crumb topping. I have it the oven right now. Something different for a change.
My mother was a great baker and she used to make the two-crust type; but over the decades my preference has changed to the crumb topping. But either one is great.
I love the crumb topping even on cherry pie. We always called what you made a Dutch apple pie and topped it with vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream. I'm sure your pie will be delicious.
We roll out crumb bread cake like a pizza pie (thin) put apples on top, sprinkle spices (Cinnamon) on top of apples, then put sour cream on top, and then sugar on the sour cream, then bake like that.
