If I have the butter out for making something else with it, he'll use it to saute mushrooms or onions or something, but if it's not on the counter, he uses his big ole tub. My youngest inhales food too fast to notice (and now he's the Navy's problem so they can decide - although I refused to teach him how to cook anything using margarine so when he makes his own meals, that's what he probably uses), and my oldest is a chef so he wouldn't even bother with anything but real butter.
yep that's it,,,a big ole tub of country crock....we use to have that growing up..
we would melt a pound of that stuff and pour on popcorn,,,,, and watch creature double feature on Saturday nights.... (monster movies)

I remember Creature Feature! Yep, nothing like some hazard yellow grease on the popcorn.

Ditto! And I'm pretty sure that's what the popcorn Gods intended to prove to us that they loved us!

And yep - I remember Creature Feature - sometimes I still watch Son of Svengoolie. And I'm all old and stuff now! Then again, I still like The Three Stooges - maybe I'm not as grown up as I thought.

I hadn't bought margarine for any years but recently I took on the project of making some vegan cookies for a friend who is vegan and also non-gluten tolerant. I bought some "Earth Balance" "buttery spread" made of 78% veg oil. It is vegan, non-GMO, USDA organic and has no flavor at all.

I don't buy margarine but have had it on KFCs biscuits. So that would be about a year ago.

Grew up using margarine and butter. Butter was for special occasions like holidays. My wife and I use Smart Balance and butter depending on what we are cooking.

Thanks, but I'm not sure what that means. In the butter case, at least here, we have butter, and we have all of the "spreads", none of which are real margarine anymore. I used to get Albertsons brand, then they stopped making it. Can you name a brand I can look for? I prefer butter of course, but sometimes recipes call for margarine, and spreads just don't work! Too much water.
