Moors and Christian's??? I had to look that one up! For those who are wondering like me, it's black beans and rice.

I don't often plan beyond today and tomorrow's dinner. What vegies are fresh in the fridge will often determine what meat gets pulled from the freezer. DH requests things, which usually end up with me answering, "okay, tomorrow night."

The exception is when I cook anything Asian, since that requures a trip to the Asian market for fresh vegies (especially beansprouts, which don't keep well). So, if we have Chinese one night, we'll often have Thai or Vietnamese the next.

My version of M&C is brown rice, black beans, and black eyed peas.

My freezer is STUFFED with brisket and some fish. The fish usually goes into a stew though the cat fish might be used for breakfast tacos, with avocado and feta, but the brisket is often used with soft tortillas. It is a habit I am trying to get away from because it is too easy to make and it becomes far too easy as comfort food.

I'm trying to get away from store bought bread and instead, make my own. Maybe I won't consume it as fast. Hence with the brisket, I am trying to get back to eating it with a knife and fork though using it in a stew is nothing new.

Now that I'm semi-retired, I'm enjoying not having a meal plan. I enjoy getting up and deciding what I'd like to eat that day and then going shopping for the evening meal. It's my new routine and I like it. I'm actually not happy when hubby cooks big on the weekend and we have enough to last most of the week. It takes my fun away. I think he wants to make lamb burgers to grill today so that will probably be on the plan for at least 3 days. As will cabbage in some form because we always have it on hand.
