I got this for my daughter for Christmas. It's fairly new (released in 2012, I think) and has wonderful recipes.

I would have gotten her a cooking magazine subscription like BBC good foods or Food heaven etc.

Larousse was on my wish list for a long time. I actually read it during a summer of long weekends at the skeet range pushing the button on pull commands. This one went to a friend who built a small home around a commercial kitchen. SO replaced it and it looks like a cross between a scribble pad and a forensic training board

One year my mom made me a cook book if all her cookie recipe's plus some of her breads and her Turkey stuffing. She typed all of the recipe's on paper and put them in a binder. I use it a lot.

I keep a cooking blog for my kids, one day I'll put them in a binder for them.

wow, that is really a hard one. There are so many good ones out there. I think I would consider one written by one of the top chefs on the Food Network. Or how about an ethnic one? Another great idea but probably too late is to find a charity that is selling one that has recipes from members. They are always fun and have fool proof recipes. I have many cook books but those are the one I always seem to go back to when I am looking for something a little different.
