We've made Mozzarella using the DIY Cheese Making Kits. Turned out ok, not sure if that counts though

The one tip I can offer for making mozarella and ricotta - don't use ultra-pasteurized milk. I use a pasteurized milk (HTST), but not ultra-pasteurized (UHT).

Yes - raw milk is even better.
