Could you rec some recipes for making a sour cream sauce to be used with egg noodles or other pasta?

Also if you have some salad dressing ideas that use sour cream.

I bought a tub of sour cream and am trying to figure out some things to use it with and I vaguely recall there is a sauce that uses SC that can be used with noodles....

This recipe came from my mom. When I left home for good to live on my own, my mom handwrote a few dozen recipes on 3 1/2" X 5" cards to give to me.

One of my favorites is paprika chicken:

1 1/2 to 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into bite size pieces

1 1/2 cups of water

1 chicken boullion cube

2 onions cut into thin wedges

pepper to taste

1 tablespoon paprika (try to get Hungarian Paprika, its better!)

2 teaspoons salt

1/3 cup of flour

1/2 cup of sour cream

2 tablespoons cooking oil

Put flour in a bag and coat chicken pieces with flour after seasoning the chicken pieces with 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper to taste, reserving the rest of the flour for later.

Brown chicken pieces in a large pot, then take out and drain excess oil on paper towels.

Add onion to the pot and brown slightly, then add reserved flour and stir for a bit, then add water, rest of the salt, bouillion cube, black pepper to taste and paprika adding the chicken back to the pot.

Simmer until chicken is cooked, then take the pot off the stove and stir in the sour cream. Serve over wide egg noodles.

This is such a simple recipe, yet all my friends who have tasted it, rave about it.

If I have sour cream on hand I put a dollop in eggs and a splash of milk, then whisk it and cook them in a skillet. Makes the eggs creamy and fluffy. I saw this on an episode of the Sopranos and decided to try it.

Try a stroganoff - there is nothing to limit the type of protein used or if a protein is used at all. Mushroom stroganoff with bell peppers over noodles is delicious.
