You can even grow veggies from scraps. I have the best luck with romaine lettuce - just shove the end into a jar of water, change the water every day, and in a few days you get new leaves. Some scraps you can grow in soil, too.

Yes! Chances are we all have (many tomatoes and lettuces in the grocery store, at the very least) without even realizing it. I've benefited from some awesome home-spun hydroponic setups in the islands.
