Processed garbage isn't nutritious.
I have my weaknesses, such as ice cream...
But even when I buy that- I buy the pure stuff
if you eat more preservatives, wont that help preserve you??

No. Honestly there's not much nutritional difference in things like biscuits and macaroni and cheese. Whether homemade or processed, neither is really that good for you. But I do prefer eating whole foods, like fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, over anything that comes in a box, can, or microwaveable package.

Many people DID know what you meant when you started the thread. This is just another nice topic that's been hacked by the literalists who are incapable of joining in a conversation without turning it into an argument.

maybe they are instead taking issue with the terminology itself. it doesn't have to be a personal problem.

Um, what do you think the term "literalist" was meant to imply?

I gravitate toward the specialty food counter for processed foods. At the moment I am working may way through Kohinoor products, and have mutter paneer, dal makhani and dal tadka yet to sample. I also buy pre-made mayonnaise, catsup, mole, salsa and pico de gallo. My wife and I buy both canned and deli soups, though we also make our own. It has been many years since I last made my own potato chips.

To me, the down sides of processed foods are expense, and the fact that they usually have inferior flavor. I would never buy a box of mac 'n cheese because my home made version tastes so much better, even if it is more expensive.
