OP here, who knew this thread would go porno lol. Although when I watch it with my son's 13 year old friend he really seems to enjoy it an awful lot lol.

^Jeff Mauro isn't too bad, especially since he slimmed down a bit.

My husband likes Lidia, too. He always wanted to eat in one of her restaurants. Last time we visited NYC, I let him choose between Becco, Felidia or Esca. He chose Becco and we were both disappointed. We had the "sinfonia di pasta" which consists of 3 different pastas and is all you can eat for about $20. They weren't kidding when they say the place is really cramped plus the 3 pastas she had on offer that day weren't very good. I kept hoping that when we went, they would have lobster risotto as one of the three---but no luck.

Still, I told him that next time we should try Felidia as it is more upscale than Becco but not as upscale as Esca.

Lidia is my favorite TV cook, too. I've learned more from her than other show host. She not only tells you what to do, but she explains WHY. She gives practical information on pans, knives, food combinations, etc. I don't have to be cooking exactly what she cooked to be able to put her tips to use. She's a teacher more than a TV personality.

And in that way, "food porn" is weirder than "real porn." Why would someone watch five hours of food porn and then not finish off the food porn session by not cooking anything?
I'd say I've learned the second most from Ina, but I disagree with some of the things she does. I've seen her cut chicken on a wooden cutting board, for example. I've also seen her serve food that doesn't seem to me to be cooked enough for safety. Maybe she has access to bacteria-free ingredients, but I'm not so sure I do. As for the "homosexual interior decorators," the ones I know are tons of fun and they can dine at my house anytime.

Finally, as for the food "porn," I know plenty of people who watch other people cook incessantly without ever doing it themselves ... just as they watch others play sports they don't play themselves ... or watch home improvements being made they would never undertake themselves. Even kids who aren't old enough to do these things often enjoy watching skillful people at work. I grew up watching my Grandma cook, not on TV, but live. Some kids don't have such luck. Remember those videos of road construction that little boys in the eighties would watch over and over until the tapes broke? Same diff.

aint that awful, how someone gets ripped to shreds,

since this thread started,,,i threw out her name in conversation asking folks how they liked her....
the men seem to be a little more open minded here, even complimentary trying to say something nice , while the women,,, verbally skun her alive,,,
2 ladies, went so far to call her a reptilian ( a theory that aliens are amongst us)

most of the ladies seem to know she is a spitter (doesn't swallow, spits her food out)
and proportionately, something just isn't right, (augmentations. if she was a food, she's be a definite gmo)

I do watch Pioneer Woman but there' something . . . I don't know. It's like she took a lot of valium just before they start filming or something. A little Stepford Wife-ish is how she comes across to me.

Yet, still I watch.

I love to watch Trisha Yearwood (that's her, right) on Food Network - she looks like she's having fun when she cooks and I love southern cooking so . .

With regard to Giada - I do think she's pretty but I hate CHEESE and she uses so MUCH cheese every time I see her on tv.

my favorite food show is anything with Jaime Oliver (whom i've also had a crush on for years LOL). I love his no-nonsense, rustic style using mostly whole, unprocessed food, and I enjoyed when he would cook a full dinner then at the end of the show, random friends would be stopping by his place to eat

Guy Fieri - yikes I cannot stand that Diners Drive-Ins and Dives haha
Love Jamie Oliver!

I'm with ya on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, OH MY (is how I think it should go every time I hear it). Can't stand that show and they play over and over and over . .

^I noticed that about Pioneer Woman too. She was driving and was in la la land, and I thought to myself she must have quite a supply of Xanax or something. I still enjoy her show.

She gets a little wacky with some of the desserts with all the marshmallows, M&Ms, powdered sugar etc.
