Compensation as in their pay right? They don't get any other benefits?

Don't like the portions, again, bring home what you don't eat and reheat the following day.
By lower portions, I thought he meant it wasn't enough for a meal AND leftovers for take out

By lower salaries, I thought he meant why should we be paying for the deficiencies of their salaries?

I don't quite buy this whole grain obsession tbh. Grains alone won't make you fat if you don't overeat them. Think about the French who eat baguettes and croissants every day.

I find it amusing that a British guy can come to America and praise our food culture, then get his whole country beat up by a bunch of defensive Americans who are too lazy to read that the article that criticized American eating habits was, in fact, written by a fellow American.

So Americans are not only obese, they lack basic reading comprehension skills, too.

:-)

When you're 20-35 and being overweight your body can manage. When you're overweight into your 40s and older that is when you see those people with leg and hip problems, constantly couldn't catch their breath or must see the Doctor all the time and must be on high blood pressure meds.

It catches up to you.
Absolutely and if you dare to criticize anyone who's plus-sized, God help you!

And the crazy thing is, a size 12 or 14 nowadays is more like a 16/18. Most clothing manufacturers practice what's called "vanity sizing" so people will think they're smaller than what they are.
