Okay, I have to admit - I have some inedible food in my fridge and freezer.

I have two jars of pickles that have been there way too long.
I have a bottle of some Filipino vinegar that has expired (I keep it to remember the brand the next time I need to buy it).
I have a jar of German mustard that has dried-out (yuck).
I have two jars of preserves that I'll never touch again.

I have a freezer-burned chicken carcass that I forgot about.
I have a bag of freezer-burned butter beans.
I have some frozen cherries I don't remember buying.

Well, I just tossed all that stuff - now I'm good for another six months.

Come-on - "fess-up" how much inedible food is in your fridge/freezer?

None....at most in a few days there's going to be a little bit of a half gallon of milk that goes down the sink. The freezer gets FIFO'd on a regular basis.

Too, too much. My wife buys produce with good intentions but without a plan. It's a weekly chore to toss rotted food out. I hate it.

Too much leftovers that never get eaten. Too many condiments (door shelves are full). It's pitiful! Pantry is over stuffed as well.

I wish I could say, normally none, but that is hard for many of us. I spotted a plastic container way in the back of the fridge yesterday. I was too busy to check it out, but will today. I am almost afraid to see what it is. I threw out some blue cheese just the other day. It was so old it was truely blue cheese, all of it. I have some buttermilk in there right now, that I bought to make fresh blue cheese dressing. Well I didn't get around to making it, so I will probably have to toss the milk. And yes, there is always that produce, that just didn't get served. I will add, basicallly I don't waste much, but there are always times we just forget.

AS for the freezer, it is rare I have to toss anything, but even then, from time to time I just decide I really don't think I want to bother with whatever it was I saved the year before.

I might have some condiments that are past their date, but other than that, nothing inedible. I do fairly well at using foods before they spoil or disposing of them in a timely manner when they do spoil. The freezer might have a few things that have been in there a long time, but they're still edible.

Absolutely none. I keep mine well organized, and leftovers are eaten right away. Nothing ever goes bad or gets thrown out. I have some things that have been there for a year, but I know they're there and they will be eaten.

Just some very seriously aged condiments and salad dressings. I cannot seem to throw that stuff out. Some things are probably a YEAR old. Do pickles really ever "go bad"?? With all that vinegar, salt and sugar, I don't see how bacteria could grow in there.
