I have a pot of Etouffee for tomorrow night's dinner (because I believe a night in the fridge can be as important an ingredient as any other in some dishes) simmering on the stove and it's much better than anything I ever got from Glade or AirWick.
I have many, but I splurged on some Jasmine rice that was on sale, and just cooked some up in my rice cooker. My apartment smells like jasmine heaven. It's like aroma therapy. It's a cloudy day, so I'm cleaning and cooking, and the smell in here makes me smile.
What's a cooking aroma you just love? That makes you happy on a cloudy day?
The two thing that come to mind off the top of my head: home made soup and fresh coffee. Also love the smell of bacon frying.
I make apple butter in the slow cooker - makes the whole house smell wonderful.
Christmas cookie baking - I do about a dozen different varieties
Gingerbread....
Gingerbread!

PS. Of course the people who came to see the house didn't eat the brownies. I gained a lot of weight from that house sale.
This is too hilarious! I bet you got a good price on the house, though ha ha.

This thread makes me hungry!

What? Even regular old rice smells great when it cooks. Maybe you've never just cooked the rice alone? But, like someone else said, some people can't smell certain smells, I guess. It's kind of like bread baking smells to me.
In no particular order: Bacon, popcorn, roasting/frying chicken, homemade baked goods (all of them--esp. cinnamon rolls!), just sliced cucumbers, rice cooker rice (yes to the Jasmine!), garlic sauce, a pot roast, fajitas with all the fixin's, and fried onions, to name a few! Mmmm!
