They only sell it in the shops here at this time of year so I eat it almost every day while I've got the chance, especially the white chocolate version they have (yeah not traditional but its lush)

Never heard of it. special foods? St Joseph's day is coming March 19th and for us Italians we buy something called St. Joseph's pastries.st. joseph's pastries. - Bing Images. We also eat Hot cross buns, Easter egg bread Easter Egg Bread Recipe | Taste of Home. There is also an Easter pie called "Pastiera di Grano"
I've never made it, but I used to work with someone who would make it and bring it into the office for Easter. Very yummy.
Growing up, my mom would always pickle eggs for Easter, and our church would sell these homemade butter cream eggs that were the bomb! My intake of those was strictly monitored - only allowed to have 1 small slice daily. When I was young, our Easter meal was a lot like Thanksgiving and Christmas - turkey, ham, stuffing, etc. DH's family always had lamb. For our joint family, our Easter meal changed a lot but we would often have an Eastern European theme. The meal would usually include dishes with eggs, beets and pierogies.
English here, our traditional Easter goodies include Simnel Cake which is a rich fruit cake layered with marzipan (almond paste). We also have hot cross buns, a sweet bread with a cross on the top. Traditionally toasted and served with lots of butter.
I used to have hot cross buns sometimes back in England. Yum.
In my family we'd always have soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers to dip in them on Easter morning.
That Easter egg bread looks interesting. I was given one of those coloured eggs by a Cypriot family one year when they came round for Easter lunch. Still have it and it rattles now when I shake it.
