A friend of mine drinks that. With DIET Coke too yet.

She is in her 50s. I thought rum and coke was a teenager's drink.

I don't like cola as a mixer with anything, and I don't like rum at all (I have tried and tried and tried to will myself to like hot buttered rum, because it would be so cozy on a winter's night, but, alas, no), so yeah, rum and Coke is a big-time no-go. Nasty stuff.

I hate Fig Newtons. I don't mind fig in other preprations. But Fig Newtons are just not good. At all. If hate had a flavor, it would be Fig Newton-flavored.

To me, it sounds like an oil slick of butter floating on a hot rum concoction.

I know a few women in their fifties who drink that. Maybe they've been drinking them since they were in their teens.

I love rum straight, but mixing it with Coke...ugh. I can't deal with Coca-Cola with anything, strictly Pepsi for me

With or without lime. A Cuban acquaintance told me they often drink it with just lime garnish.

Fair enough. I've never heard anyone refer to them as anything other than a rum and coke.
