Funny you refer to "breakfast bread". I went to Vermont on vacation and stayed at a B&B where the owner served what she called "breakfast bread" with everything. Well, being from the south I knew from the first bite that she was making pound cake. Yes, sweet, delicious pound cake, which is a southern staple for a simple dessert. I wasn't sure whether to call her on it--maybe the obscure term "breakfast bread" was her way of hiding its true origin, or maybe they just had different customs up there? I was the southern guy visiting their turf, so I just kept my knowledge to myself until I was checking out, when I simply told her she made some of the best pound cake I'd ever tasted north of the Mason-Dixon. Her lack of reply/recognition might have been because she had no idea what I was referring to. Who knows?
Give me bagels, give me pancakes, give me waffles, give me toast -
Doesn't matter if it's wheat or rye, my love for all I boast.
Give me biscuits, give me Puff Puff, anything to fill my belly
Just don't ever give me English muffins and peach jelly.
I rarely eat bread for breakfast (as I usually go for cereal). But if I have to pick a favorite it would be poppy seed bagels eaten together with cream cheese and smoked salmon.
No favorites when it comes to bread or breakfast or basically food in general.
Some I won't eat but when it comes to what is traditionally considered breakfast food I am not that picky.
What I don't get is breakfasts in restaurants that come with potatoes and toast/bread of some kind. I'm going straight for those potatoes and the toast isn't going to get touched.
Nothing against toast; it's just... what the heck? Potatoes clearly trump toast, and I'm not going to eat both. Give me some melon instead or something.
Some days I'm in the mood for double blueberry pancakes, or waffles
and other days, I can easily go for a [English like Thomas or Wolverman] muffin lightly toasted, lightly buttered, and any of those berry flavored jams or it's pb and jam.
Like breads - muffins (not to be confused with the above type) - blueberry, lemon poppy seed, ...
Where's that list again? I can't pull it down from where I am without risking losing what I've typed so far.
Pretty much what's on it is what I like
Big fan of the breakfast burrito too
