I grew up in a fishing community and love all sorts of fish. Lately I 've been getting rockfish (looks a lot like snapper ) at Winco for $5.99/lb . Terrific!

After salmon, Alaskan cod is a favorite. It is so versatile - poached, fried or baked. As a matter of fact, cod is on the dinner menu tonight.

Opah, Mahi, Wahoo, Snapper, Cobia, Rockfish, Tigerfish, Halibut, Cod, Swordfish, Mako, all either simply prepared with salt and pepper, olive oil and some citrus work just fine for me. Maybe a little side of horseradish.

I forgot to add that I like it all simply prepared. One way I don't like fish is breaded. I don't like a lot of things breaded actually. If a coating is needed, I would perhaps order it with a batter coating like in English style fish and chips.

Otherwise I prefer it simple with salt/pepper or blackened or poached.

Flounder I loved and Dover Sole...but someone said, You know they are bottom feeders...
WHAT? I was crushed.
Gave up lobster, etc....now THESE, too?

Someone please tell me he was wrong....it was hard for me to find info online.
I just can not eat anything that eats 'you know what'.

All flatfish are bottom feeders, but, the are more likely to feed on smaller fish than just salvage whatever is kicking around.

Lobster also will eat anything they can get their claws on.

You have to be careful asking this question as the same fish can have several different names in different areas.

For example, Australia supermarkets do insist on selling Basa...Which is another name for Mekong Delta carp.
