I saw some and bought it on impulse. I googled for recipes and it's currently soaking for a mushroom/rice/Chinese bacon recipe.

Have you tried it and if you did, how do you use it? I have another package in which I am going to do candied bacon pieces for fam in a few days.

Depending on how you got it, it makes for a great twist on the B.L.T.

Nice soft baguette, the bacon, cilantro, basil leaves, a little mint, tomato and fried egg. More like a BLT Bahn mi.

It is called lop/lap yuk in Chinese.



I purchase it vacuum sealed from the Asian grocery store.



(lop yuk on the left, Chinese sausage on the right)

It is smoked and fatty (yum).

Tee-hee My grandmother used to take a piece of lop yuk and just place atop of rice (along with lop chong). When the rice was halfway cooked (most of the liquid had steamed away), she would put the lop yuk and lop chong atop the rice to cook. The awesome pork fat would flavor the rice.

Chinese sticky rice was was one of my favorite grandmother recipes.

I saw that a local Chinese BBQ restaurant was selling fresh lop yuk, I might have to buy some the next time I am in that part of town

I've seen it at my local Asian Grocery. what do you do with it? Does it taste like American style bacon? If not, compare it to something for me, please? (it ain't cheap, as I recall)

That's very close to the recipe I am doing with glutenious rice. Will update later on how it turns out.
