Dunking was hand-slapped out of me as a child. All the elders dunked. (And worse. They poured their hot coffee into the saucer and slurped from it.)
I suspect it was viewed as a sign of being backwards (read immigrant) and my immediate elders were trying so very hard to look like modern, middle-class Americans.
Now that I could dunk away to my hearts content I guess I never developed a taste for anything saturated with coffee.

My great-grandfather did the coffee from a saucer thing, apparently. It's a generational throwback, and particular to some old-world European cultures, though obviously not a contemporary thing.
As I dont drink much coffee at all, I cant really answer, but doubt very much Id dook anything in it... tea now is different, a good tea biscuit is fine..
The only thing that goes in my coffee besides Stevia is an ice cube, which is quickly dunked and removed so that I can drink it without scalding my tongue. I don't want the coffee cold, mind you, I just don't want it hot enough to cause third degree burns.
As for all the other stuff, I don't want odd bits in my coffee. I will, however, dunk a particular chocolate chip cookie in milk. The only place I can get these cookies is at ALDI, and they don't always have them so when they do, I treat myself.

Just pour it in your saucer, theatergypsy.
